T.J. Kent, born in 1917, was a pioneer in city and regional planning in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was a founding member of Telesis and the founding professor of the UC Berkeley department of City and Regional Planning. In 1964 he published The Urban general plan. Vernon Armand DeMars was born in San Francisco, California, in 1908. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1931. After jobs with the National Park Service and travel in the U.S. and Europe, DeMars worked from 1936- 1942 as district architect for the Farm Security Administration's regional office in San Francisco.
